Basira changed a lot in both design and writing. In the original run, he was not a bad guy, and was actually Emil's own personal guard. He originally was the scythe wielder until I decided to change that for a broad sword. Even his attitude was different, he was relatively laid back and went with the flow, taking everything in stride.
