So on your left (the comp's right) is the original design I made for Emil for the Chapter 2 flashback. His design hadn't really changed that much, but Chapter 2 itself had. It was a completely different story when I was first writing Messenger. Originally Emil was a few years older, and the main conflict of the story was the fact the it was time for Emil to pick his own personal guard. I reworked that, because it seemed silly and uninteresting.

I'll talk more about the differences as we see the rest of the cast from Chapter 2.
